很喜歡閱讀一些將中外名著借題發揮的諷刺作品﹐既能重溫某些險被遺忘的經典文學﹐又能從一些耳熟能詳的的情節尋到新的驚喜﹐欣賞作者如何肆意地調侃幽默一番。Seth Grahame-Smith 將Jane Austen 的言情鉅著《傲慢與偏見》注入了喪屍﹑忍者及武俠激鬥的元素﹐故事的結構和對白大部份取自原著﹐只是將重要字眼偷天換日﹑大開玩笑。從書末煞有介事的book club 導讀討論問題﹐可見作者娛己娛人的想像力之一斑。當然﹐從正經八百的角度而論﹐替經典小說畫蛇添足無疑是對古人有點不敬﹐也沒有什麼文學研究欣賞價值可言。只是拋開包袱成見﹐《傲慢與偏見 - 喪屍版》不失是一部輕鬆消閒﹑令人會心微笑之作。

Ha! The cover is hilarious. I am usually not keen on spin-offs, especially Jane Austen-inspired ones. Every so often you'll see another fan-fiction that muses about the happy domestic life of the Darcys. This one, however, is very cool. I might have to peruse it myself.

am reading it. a few chapters in. if one is relatively familiar with the original, i think one will find the spin-off amusing and witty. :O)

this is certainly not those self-indulgent spin-offs, more like a satire/spoof/parody. check it out, it is certainly low brow, but it is certainly a brainless read (ha no pun intended).
